Web Access and Creative Skills: two add-ons for your family's assistants
What each package adds, what it costs, and how to buy it, turn it on, pause it or cancel it.
Every family gets three assistants included: Grace, The Planner and The Professor. Web search and making pictures and videos are not part of those assistants on their own. They are two optional packages you add to them, so you only pay for them if your family wants them.
Web Access: answers that can look beyond your family
Web Access adds web search to your family's assistants, with sources shown. That is for the questions your family documents cannot answer: something happening right now, a fact you want checked, or a detail from outside the household. The answer still shows where it came from, the same way an answer drawn from a family document shows its source, so you can open it and check it yourself.
Creative Skills: pictures and videos from a description
Creative Skills adds image and video creation to your family's assistants. Describe what you want, and the assistant makes it: a picture for a school project, an illustration for a story, or a short video for a Family Project. It is a way to make something together, rather than a separate assistant to learn.
What each package costs
Each package is $8 per family per month. That is per family, not per person, so one package covers everyone in the family who is allowed to use it. Buy one package, both, or neither. If you buy neither, nothing changes for your family.
You need an active family subscription to buy a package. Your first package charge is prorated and appears on your next invoice.
How to buy and turn a package on
Buying and switching on are two separate steps, on purpose. In Parent tools, choose Account, then Packages:
- Choose Buy for the package you want and confirm the $8 monthly charge. Until a package is available, its switch stays disabled.
- Turn the package's switch on. Only then can your family's assistants use it.
Parents still choose which personas each family member may use, under Active personas on the Account page. A package does not change who is allowed to use Grace, The Planner or The Professor. It only adds a capability to the assistants they can already use.
Pausing and cancelling
Turning a package's switch off pauses its use without changing your billing. If you want to stop paying for it, choose Cancel paid package as well. Cancelling credits the unused time. Pausing is the right choice when you want a break; cancelling is the right choice when you no longer want the package at all.
What stays the same for children
Adding a package does not loosen any of the controls parents already set. Children's messages and replies are still checked by a safety model, and their daily time and usage limits, curfew and persona access restrictions still apply. A child who is not allowed to use a particular assistant does not gain access to it through a package.
Getting started
Open Parent tools, choose Account, then Packages, and pick the package your family wants to try. Our tutorial, Turn on Web Access and Creative Skills, walks through each screen.
