How Grace keeps parents in control

Managed child accounts, limits, safety screening, and what parents can see, explained plainly.

Letting a child use AI is easier when you can see what is happening and set the boundaries yourself. Grace is designed with children in mind: parents create and control every child account. Here is how that works in practice.

Child accounts without an email address

A parent creates a child account from the Family members page with a name, a username and a password. Children sign in with their family and username. Grace does not collect an email address for them, and the sign-in screen never lists the family’s children to strangers.

You decide how much, and when

For each child you can:

  • switch AI on or off
  • set a daily time limit in minutes
  • set a daily usage limit
  • set the hours Grace is available, such as after school until dinner

When a limit is reached, the child sees a friendly message rather than an error. Daily time is measured in short blocks, so treat the minutes as an approximation.

A safety check on every message

Messages from children, and Grace’s replies to them, pass through a safety model. If that check is unavailable, the message does not go through, so a problem on our side never turns into an unchecked reply.

What parents can see

Parents can read any child’s chats without joining. They can also join a chat, which lets the child see that a parent is there.

Insight reports that summarize what your children have been asking about are opt-in, off by default, and deleted after 60 days. They are built only from your children’s chats.

Adults keep their chats private

Relatives and helpers with an email address join as adult members, and grandparents can join on a senior seat, which a parent requests and Grace approves. Their chats are private, the same as a parent’s: parents cannot read them, they are not safety-screened, and they never feed an insight report. Parents can still set the same daily limits and curfew they use for children. If you want to stay involved in a teenager’s chats, give them a child account instead.

Your data stays yours

Your account data can be exported, and members can be removed at any time. When someone is removed, their data is deleted at the end of the billing period.
